The Use of Embossing Powders for Card Making and Scrapbooking



Embossing is a very popular technique used in the card making and scrapbooking crafts. By the embossing technique a raised and glossy look is created. People generally use this to get 3D wordings or pictures which make their creation really appreciating.

To get an embossing effort on cards or scrapbooks few essentials are required without which this effect is impossible to get. Rubber stamps play an important role which is found in varied designs. Ink is required to stick the embossing powder, so one should get ink which stays wet for long. The pigment ink which is more like a paint as well as thick is ideal for embossing effect. Good quality paper or card stock should be used for this technique. The most vital thing required is Embossing Powders. It is available in different colors and textures. Some of the popular colors are gold, silver, clear and black. Finally the heat gun is used to heat the embossing dust until it melts to give a glossy look.


The whole embossing process involves first tapping the ink into the rubber stamp whose impression is printed on the card stocks. Before the powder dries off the power is sprinkled over it, while the excess is dusted off in a scrap paper.  Then it is heated with the help of a heating gun which melts the dust. As it cools off a raised and shiny effect finally comes out.
