Get Raised Effect on Your Craft by Using Embossing Powders

Embossing is a very popular technique that is used in craft boxes, card making and scrapbooking crafts. It is known to give a raised or 3D effect on the craft and so many uses it for wordings or photographs. It is considered a versatile method as different types of embossing dusts are used to get unique looks.

Embossing powder is the main ingredient in this versatile technique and it is available in wide variety of colors as well as textures. Most craft workers love to use the glittery embossing powders as they can make the art stand apart from the rest. Besides the embossing dusts there are other essential items which are required to get the raised effect on the craft.

Heat gun is a major requirement which is mainly used to heat the dusts which melts to give the 3D look. These heat guns are available in all craft stores, though few people use irons in this technique. Ink is another essential item for embossing. Ink is used to stick the embossing dusts so it is always better to buy same colored ink as the Embossing Powders. Though several kinds are available the thick ones are better as they can effectively retain the powders. Finally rubber stamps is the last thing required which is used to imprint the design on the paper.

The designer stamps are inked which are firmly imprinted on the cardstock to get the required design. Then the dust is sprinkled over, while the extra is removed away. Once it is firmly set it is heated by the heat guns which finally give the raised look. This is hence a very easy way to get unique effects on the crafts.
