Scrapbooking Techniques Used in Making Handmade Cards



Today handmade cards are in great demand than the commercially available ones. The handmade cards reflect the sentiments and creation of the maker. Though card making for many people is a hobby, yet it has grown into a very lucrative business. This has played a crucial role in increasing the demand for these handmade cards.

Of late the card making and scrapbooking craft techniques have blended to give it an out of the box look. Journaling plays a very important role in both the type of craft and so people try to add many new ideas. The common way to make the journaling part more attractive is by making it very colorful making different pen and pencils. Many also are seen to use glitters to make their creation very eye catchy.

Apart from enhancing the journaling part card makers also try to decorate it with stickers, ribbons and rubber stamping. In both handmade cards and scrapbooks embossing is the most common technique used. It is regarded a very versatile technique that can give a very different look to the crafts.


In the embossing technique rubber stamps are inked and then the design is imprinted on the paper. Before the ink dries the Embossing Powders are sprinkled. Then it is heated with a heating gun until the powder melts giving it a raised and glossy effect. Other popular scrapbooking techniques that have been incorporated in card making are mosaic pattern through paper cuttings, rubber stamping, folding or pop ups.

Card Makers are now coming up with wonderful creations which also helps in nurturing their innovative ideas.
